A home urine test can be helpful when pregnancy is suspected, but a blood beta-hCG test is usually the earliest and most sensitive confirmation. A missed period, nausea, and breast tenderness can support the suspicion but do not prove it.

An ultrasound at the appropriate week is needed to confirm where the pregnancy is located and how it is progressing. Severe pelvic pain, dizziness, or bleeding should be checked promptly because ectopic pregnancy must be ruled out.
