Does extreme fatigue during pregnancy reveal the baby's sex?
No. Extreme fatigue during pregnancy is not a reliable sign that the baby is a boy or a girl. The baby's sex is most reliably identified by ultrasound at the appropriate week or by prenatal testing recommended by your clinician.
Fatigue is common, especially in the first trimester, because progesterone rises, blood pressure and blood sugar can fluctuate, nausea or vomiting can drain energy, sleep may be disrupted, and the body is using more energy to support pregnancy. Fluids, small frequent meals, balanced iron- and protein-containing foods, gentle movement, and rest may help.
Contact your clinician if fatigue is disrupting daily life or comes with shortness of breath, palpitations, fainting, chest pain, fever, heavy vomiting, bleeding, dark urine, or marked dizziness. Anemia, thyroid problems, infection, or dehydration may need to be checked.
