Can you take medicine while pregnant?

Medication use in pregnancy should be guided by a clinician because some drugs cross the placenta and can affect the baby. Unnecessary medicines are especially avoided in the first trimester.

People with chronic conditions should not stop medicines on their own. Untreated epilepsy, hypertension, thyroid disease, or infection can also be risky for both mother and baby.
