Pregnancy symptoms
Can nausea and vomiting harm the baby?
Mild to moderate nausea and vomiting usually do not harm the baby. They are common in the first trimester when pregnancy hormone levels are rising.
Not being able to keep fluids down, weight loss, dark urine, dry mouth, severe weakness, or ketones should be assessed for hyperemesis gravidarum. IV fluids and medication may be needed.
